Last week, on Sept. 30, I had the pleasure of capturing Kathleen and Ken’s beautiful wedding at The Willows at Ashcombe Mansion in Mechanicsburg, PA. It was a day filled with warmth, laughter, and the blending of lives and memories.
Kathleen and Ken's love story is a unique one, as their journey to marriage came after many experiences and adventures, which made their wedding and stories surrounding them, all the more special. Their guest list was intimate, but rich with the love of family and friends who had been part of their lives for many years. It was amazing to witness a room filled with people who had never met but were instantly connected by the love these two share. To help with introductions, guests wore name tags that shared not just their names, but their connection to the couple — a thoughtful touch that encouraged mingling and fostered a welcoming atmosphere.
While the ceremony itself was a highlight, one of my favorite parts of the day was the series of toasts that took place throughout the reception. Friends and family shared personal stories in different corners of the mansion, adding a personal touch to the festivities. It felt as though every room had its own special moment, and every toast carried the weight of years of love, laughter, and friendship.
What impacted me most was how Kathleen and Ken made their day entirely their own. They embraced the traditional elements of a wedding, but tailored the experience to reflect their journey and their desires for the celebration. It was a joy to capture these moments and to hear the stories that made their love so unique.
Both the staff at Ashcombe and JDK, who provided the catering, were outstanding in making the day run smoothly. Every detail was handled with care, allowing Kathleen and Ken to fully enjoy their celebration without a hitch.
Working with Kathleen and Ken was an absolute joy — capturing the connections, the happiness, and the stories that make each wedding a one-of-a-kind experience. I’m so grateful to have been part of their day!
